The Green Network Team

Our Role

For more than a decade the Green Network team has been at the forefront of driving strategic planning and delivery of the Green Network for the benefit of nature, climate and people. That accumulated experience and expertise allows us to support local authority, agency and third sector partners to develop all aspects of Green Network related work.

Ally Corbett, Development Officer

Ally’s remit is wide ranging covering all aspects of Green Network development encompassing project inception, funding and management, as well as GIS analysis, policy & strategy development, and partner support. He’s been with the GCVGN since its launch in 2007 and over the years has worked on all of its key initiatives. A particular highlight for him was the launch of GCVGN’s Blueprint, the result of two years of intensive work.

“There are so many aspects to the Green Network that you have to be a bit of a jack of all trades! That really suits me as there’s always something new to learn about and get involved in. It feels like there’s real momentum behind what we do just now and so it’s really exciting to be a part of that.”

Her key highlights include launching the ‘Seeing the Bigger Picture’ Campaign way back in 2007 with a showcase film, launch of the Blueprint in 2019 and launch of the Clyde Climate Forest project in 2021 – to much media attention.

“The Green Network has always been a fascinating concept to work on and it really is incredible to see all of the visionary graphics and ‘dream big’ aspirations finally taking shape on the ground!”

Rory McLeod, Grasslands & Wetlands Development Officer

Rory joined GCVGN in 2022 as Development Officer and leads on the grassland and wetland workstreams. Previously he was part of the secretariat for the Scottish Forum on Natural Capital, helping to embed natural capital concepts in decision-making processes across the public, private and voluntary sector in Scotland. He also worked with Lothian & Fife Green Network Partnership, playing a key role in developing the Shale Trail green active travel project. He has over ten years experience as a field ecologist whether professionally or as a volunteer.

“It has been great to join the team at a time when many of the ideas promoted by GCVGN at a regional level have increasingly become national policy priorities. Creating ‘nature networks’ to improve habitat connectivity will be vital for wildlife, and also bring many benefits for people and climate too.”
