The official website of the Glasgow & Clyde Valley Green Network

Inverclyde

The Inverclyde local authority area includes the urban communities of Greenock, Port Glasgow and Gourock which lie on a flat, relatively thin coastal strip and are closely linked to the Clyde Muirshiel Regional Park. Flanked by coastal villages to the east and inland settlements to the west, the Park is one of the major environmental assets of the area.

The Green Network will be a significant element in the transformation of the Inverclyde area, contributing to the regeneration of the Waterfront and the remodelling of residential areas, and forming key links within and between communities and with Clyde Muirshiel Regional Park. The aim is to involve communities in managing their environment and to develop a wide range of opportunities for local people and visitors to experience and enjoy the area’s natural and cultural heritage.

‘Inverclyde as a community has suffered a lot in the past and real efforts are being made now to transform that community, a critical part of that is the enhancement of the greenspace’ Liz Connolly, Regional Director West, Scottish Enterprise.
