Geographic Projects

Examples of Geographic projects:

Gartloch/Gartcosh

The existing greenspace resources in the Gartloch/Gartcosh area, including valuable wetland habitats, will come under increasing development pressure over future years due to its location within one of the GCV region’s major growth corridors.

Opportunities are emerging for the involvement of local communities in the development, use and management of green spaces appropriate to their needs. This project will help identify and assess these opportunities.  The project will also include preparation of a management plan for the key area of the Bishop’s Estate.

Govan

The Clyde Waterfront study identified Govan is one of eleven Green Network Action Areas along the stretch of river between Glasgow city centre and the Erskine Bridge.

A number of project opportunities have been identified and the Green Network Partnership will shortly be hosting a workshop to discuss with partners how best to integrate the delivery of these projects with other development initiatives already underway in Govan.

This is the first Action Area to be taken forward into a second phase of work and is a key component of the ambitious plan to develop a Clyde-wide Green Network.

Ferguslie Park

This project will explore ways in which the Green Network can contribute to the development of a stronger community and help tackle issues of deprivation.

The project will identify opportunities for developing the Ferguslie Park component of the Green Network in ways that improve the quality of the urban environment, enhance quality of life for residents, strengthen biodiversity and help create new economic opportunities for local people.

The study will look both at the provision of greenspace within Ferguslie Park itself and opportunities to create links with other areas of Paisley and with the wider Green Network.
