Inverclyde Masterplanning

The need for Green Network Masterplanning emerged as a foundation action from the Inverclyde Green Network Strategy. The Strategy outlines a vision of Inverclyde where the Green Network is at the core of the area's transformation.

Inverclyde's Green Network will contribute to the regeneration of the Waterfront and the remodelling of residential areas. Key links will be formed within and between communities and with Clyde Muirshiel Regional Park delivering a broad range of economic, community, health and environmental benefits.

Commissioned by Inverclyde Council in 2009, the Inverclyde Masterplanning report:

  • Provides a plan based analysis of the landscape and urban infrastructure in Inverclyde
  • Identifies key elements of an Inverclyde Green Network and suggests how these can enhance the structural fabric of regeneration areas in Inverclyde
  • Provides a methodology to allow regeneration partners to work together in the planning and promotion of greenspace provision as key functional spaces within local communities
  • Provides a resource to allow masterplanners to balance local greenspace provision against a wider district level framework and encourage them to consider greenspace as an early and vital consideration within the planning process
  • Provides guidance for the design and planning of successful greenspace as part of Area Renewal masterplans

The outcomes from this study will help to embed the benefits of quality greenspaces into the ongoing regeneration processes in Inverclyde.
