Habitat Priorities Mapping Overview
Extremely valuable as the IHN Model is, it only shows the current situation in terms of existing habitats and networks and not where planning gain or resources should be targeted for maximum payback i.e. it doesn’t prioritise action.
To address this, the Partnership, with Forest Research, has developed a new analytical approach which builds on the IHN Model to identify priorities for action for each of the three IHN habitats across the GCV.
The output from this work formed one of the cornerstones of the Green Network Opportunities Mapping undertaken for the GCV Strategic Development Plan and is now being used to inform Green Network inclusion in local authority partners’ Local Development Plans.
