Gleniffer Braes Country Park is an important rural green space occupying 480 hectares of countryside immediately to the south of Paisley in Renfrewshire.
The Country Park is one of several large greenspace sites around the Glasgow and Clyde Valley (GCV) area.
These greenspace sites act individually and jointly as significant visitor attractions for the whole of west central Scotland, with some attracting upwards of 500,000 visitors per year. Several of these sites provide important ‘gateways’ from urban environments to the regions spectacular rural landscapes and beyond.
Although Gleniffer Braes has been designated as a Country Park for nearly 30 years, there are limited visitor facilities there compared to other country parks, and a modest programme of events and activities.
The GCV Green Network Partnership aims to contribute toward the development of a sustainably managed and marketed Country Park through the implementation of a Green Network Strategy for the area.
New investment will be required to fully develop the potential of the Country Park as an important contribution to the GCV Green Network and to deliver environmental quality, social health and economic development benefits over the next thirty years.
