River Clyde Access

The River Clyde corridor forms the ‘backbone’ of the Glasgow & Clyde Valley (GCV) Green Network and should function as a major recreational resource and attraction as well as a functional off-road means of moving around the city.

Currently, however, the route is fragmented and of variable quality and is therefore underutilised.  The River Clyde Access Study aimed to identify and propose actions to address these failings in order for the Clyde Corridor to realise its full potential and become a major asset for the city region.

The study area spanned both the north and south sides of the river between Glasgow Green and the Erskine Bridge and was divided into 11 sub study areas reflecting those in the Clyde Waterfront Green Network Strategy.  Blockages, missing links, inconsistent signage and poor quality infrastructure were all identified and mapped on GIS.

The Report details recommendations to remedy the failings.
