Clydeside Community Park

The area around Clydeside Community Park in Clydebank was identified in the Clyde Waterfront Green Network Strategy as a key node where the Green Network currently fails to deliver on its full potential.

The park is isolated and hidden away and therefore underused. The adjacent section of the Clyde Walkway is discontinuous due to the hospital grounds which, although expansive, offer little functional, biodiversity or aesthetic value.

The study considered each of these factors in a wider spatial and connectivity context and recommended a series of interventions not only to the park, the Clyde Walkway and other access links, but also to the hospital grounds which would make it an attractive and useable space and effectively an extension of the park.

West Dunbartonshire Council are actively seeking to promote and deliver the proposals and have entered dialogue with the NHS on use of the hospital grounds and have submitted a successful funding application for delivery of some of the study recommendations.
