Bridgeton Cross

The Clyde Gateway Green Network Strategy identified key hubs and connections at a strategic level which, if enhanced, would have a considerable impact on the Clyde Gateway area in terms of visual appeal, connectivity and usability for walking and cycling.  One of these key hubs was Bridgeton Cross.

A study was jointly commissioned by the Partnership and Clyde Gateway Urban Regeneration Company (URC) to investigate what was currently failing in terms of the Green Network in the Bridgeton area and to make detailed recommendations on how these failings should be addressed.

Five key areas were considered within the study.  These were:

•    Abercromby St Cemetery
•    Tullis St Park
•    Bridgeton Community Learning Centre Park
•    James St
•    Main St

The recommendations encompassed a mixture of public realm enhancements, open space improvements, lighting and redefinition of the relationship between car and pedestrian space.

Many of the recommendations have been, or are in the process of being, implemented by the Clyde Gateway URC.
