Placemaking: Integrating Green Infrastructure
Wednesday 16th March, 9am - 3pm, Glasgow Royal Concert Hall
The GCV Green Network Partnership and SEPA cordially invited you to join us at our Placemaking: Integrating Green Infrastructure seminar being held in the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall.
‘A robust and imaginative spatial development framework or ‘masterplan’ is essential to creating somewhere that functions as an integrated place.’ (Delivering Better Places in Scotland, Scottish Government, 2011)
Masterplans specify how infrastructure (streets, spaces, utilities, community facilities) and components (blocks, plots, buildings) relate to each other and how together they will deliver a vision. ‘Green Infrastructure’ brings those design elements together in a masterplan that contributes to the delivery of the Green Network associated with the making of a place.
The Placemaking: Integrating Green Infrastructure seminar will include presentations on a recently completed study which looked to integrate green infrastructure into Design Studies for major developments in the Glasgow Clyde Valley region based upon sustainable surface water management. The Scottish Government’s Chief Architect, Ian Gilzean, will give a keynote address on the role of green infrastructure in Placemaking.
This event will be of particular relevance to: • Planners and Developers; • Roads and Water Engineers; • Architects and Landscape Architects • Greenspace, Biodiversity and Access Managers, and all those with a role in drafting or commenting on plans for developments.
Places are limited and allocated strictly on a first place basis. Lunch will be provided.
