Strathleven Corridor

Strathleven Green Network Study

The Strathleven Corridor stretches from Bowling Harbour on the River Clyde to Balloch on the banks of Loch Lomond.

It is home to communities such as the Vale of Leven, Renton and Alexandria which have in the past been the subject of regeneration. It is recognised that much still has to be done to regenerate these communities.

A partnership between West Dunbartonshire Council, British Waterways, the Strathleven Regeneration Company and Scottish Enterprise has been encouraged by the Scottish Government to bring the different local regeneration programmes together.

The Strathleven Corridor Green Network Strategy is seen as key to providing a framework linking these communities to support the case for a concerted, co-ordinated approach to regeneration.

The Green Network Strategy aims to bring benefits to local communities by providing local people with high quality, multi-functional open space which is readily accessible to them. The Green Network will support the safe off road movement of local people around and between their communities.

In addition, it will act as a regional, recreational attraction bringing visitors to the area through green links to the stunning landscapes of the wider countryside.

The Strathleven Corridor project will analyse existing open spaces and prioritise action to support regeneration of the area by improving the quality of, and access to, local green spaces.
